May the dark force be with you!

Hope you can see light at the end of a long dark tunnel after searching in the dark for so long.

Troubled Times for Alternatives to Einstein’s Theory of Gravity

Interesting article about how alternative gravity theories to Einstein’s general relativity die because an event billions of light year away which has been predicted by theory has reached the earth and recorded by devices developed for that particular event.

Well, killing off old theories and replacing them with new ones is how science has worked in the past and it will be the way how science can stand up to the test of time in the future.

May be one of these days, human can travel at a speed close to the speed of light and boldly go where no one has gone before.

But, I doubt it that these future space travelers will ever meet any alien at all.

A pprobe detected a mysterious signal that physics can’t explain

The spaceprobe entered the orbit in December 2015. It wss launched from the Jiuquan (酒泉) Satellite Launch Center in the Gobi Desert (戈壁沙漠), about 820 miles northwest of Xi’an (西安).

DAMPE stands for Dark Matter Particle Explorer (DAMPE) while WIMPs are known as weakly interacting massive particles. The DAMPE spaceprobe was specifically designed to look for the indirect decay signal of the dark matter, the so-called WIMPs.

I don’t know that China is into this kind of research in astrophysics, the kind of research which doesn’t yield any immediate benefits, if ever, except advacing knowledge in space, time, and possibly the meaning of life and why we are here in this world.

This project will go on for 5 years.
