We’re talking about the growth rate of American’s economy in the next 10 years.

Trump, well his underling, said that America’s economy will grow 3% on average for the next 10 years after Republican’s tax reform is enacted as law.

Source: Bloomberg.

You see, Republican and Democrat are ‘兩個烏鴉一般黑’, they are ‘一丘之貉’. They use this kind of financial trick to tell American citizens that even though their program, be it Obamacare in 2009 or tax reform in 2017, will increase deficit, but the resulting higher economic growth will generate enough taxes to make the new program budget neutral: a term you will hear repeatly before the end of this year.

Do you know the impact on American’s national debt if the economy grew 2% instead of 3%?

About $2 trillion. And that’s assuming the U.S. won’t fall into a recession and no funny accounting gimmicks.

Last year, the U.S. federal deficit was $590 billion but the national debt rose by $1.4 trillion; a whoppying $810 billion difference.

Why? Where did $810 billion go?

Well, check out this link below and read yourself.

https://www.google.com.tw/amp/s/www.forbes.com/sites/johnmauldin/2016/11/02/thanks-to-obamacare-government-debt-is-worse-than-you-think/amp/#ampshare=https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnmauldin/2016/11/02/thanks-to-obamacare-government-debt-is-worse-than-you-think/
Allow me to give you some highlights to get you started:

Do you know that government’s borrowing to make student loans and repairs on highways and bridges aren’t classified as deficit? These items are ‘investments’ so that they don’t count as deficit. In addition, the U.S. government had to borrow some money to pay for social welfare recipiants because the government didn’t collect enough taxes from FICA deductions to pay for social welfare benefits: social security, Medicare and ACA. There are more in the article if your blood pressure is under control.

A warning: as powerful as America is, all bean counters working for the federal government couldn’t figure out where $82 billion went.

This is your America.

We flew from Linkou, Taiwan to NYC to visit our daughter and son-in-law and our son and daughter-in-law in late July, 2017. Our daughter-in-law was expecting her first child in early August and our granddaughter, Claire, 浩梅, our first, was born on August 12, 2017.

In the following three weeks, our lives revolved around the baby and we tried to help the young father and mother as much as we could. In our spare time, we explored around Manhattan and Queens looking for good restaurants to try and good food to eat.

In early September, we rented a car from the JFK Airport and drove to Virginia to visit my siblings. After a short and busy four days in northern Virginia, we drove back to NYC and stayed in a hotel in Flushing for five days before flying back to Taiwan in mid-September, 2017.

While in Flushing, we walked around looking for restaurants to try because parking was problematic at times.

We’ve tried food court but we didn’t like there. We’ve tried 南翔小籠包 which we like a lot. But, the one we liked the most, as far as Shanghai and/or Jiangzhe cuisine is concern, is 豫園小籠包, You Garden Dumpling House, on 40 Road.

In fact, we liked it so much the first time, we came back the next day for lunch because there were a few dishes we just had to try before flying back to Taiwan.

Unique design of the dinning room ceiling shows the classic side of the owner.

The Chinese writing was a poem by 張若虛  from the Tang dynasty and the name of the poem is 春江花月夜. This is how this poem begins: So beautiful.

Not too nusy at 7:30 pm on a Tuesday night.

Who is responsible for the world going to hell in a handbasket?

Who do you think is the culprit?

There can be no doubt that Trump, his advisors and his supportors are largely responsible for the current mess in the world. So, go ahead, Trump, keeps stirring up the pot with your tweets and makes America the enemy of the world.

But, China is doing fine, thank you very much.

The U.S. was solely responsible for the Great Recession because America, including the Wall Street bankers, the Fed, the regulators, the Congress, the banks and thousands of greedy investors, created the subprime mortgage loan crisis and the subsequent financial crisis.

Now, Trump is dividing the country up into multiple classes and makes people from different classes hate each other.

Trump didn’t stop there. Here is a list of things Trump has done and wanted to do since 1/20/2017:

  • got out of TPP,
  • got out of the Paris Accord,
  • weakened NATO,
  • re-negotiated NAFTA,
  • wanted to get rid of Iran nuclear deal,
  • asked American allies, such as Japan, Korea, Germany, France, just to name a few, to pay for protections they have received from the U.S.,
  • threatened fire and fury on Kim Jong En and total destruction to North Korea and its people,
  • sent more U.S. troops to Afghanistan,
  • put more sanctions on Russia and Venezuela,
  • wanted to keep muslims out of the U.S. with a travel ban,
  • wanted to build a wall to keep Mexicans and latinos from entering the America, and,
  • get rid of Dreamers.

It is obvious that Trump is distructive, un-trustworthy and is a person no one, e.g., Mercel of Germany, can do business with.

The political mess in Washington and the stalemate on Britexit in England make one wonder that democracy is probably at the end of its usefulness. I certainly do not think democracy promoted by the U.S. is a viable option to govern. It created disfranchised classes and made national policies the hostages of special interest groups, lobbyists and wealthy donators.

So, is Trump’s government good for American people?

I say that it is not.

What do you think?

Is it possible that America is starring at the onset of a culture revolution American style which is instigated by Trump and encouraged by Trump’s supportors?

You tell me.

The following is some of my thoughts on the divisiveness of Trump the person and his policies. I am trying to draw parallels between the political landscapes in the U.S. and that in Taiwan. I finished my thoughts on the U.S. and I am still working on my viewpoints on Taiwan.

It was written in Chinese.

Life in the U.S. of A. used to be quite simple. As far as social Issues were concern, everything was pretty conservative which was fine with me.

For instance, when It came to choose one’s gender, we had either male or female. Pretty straight forward. Nothing complicated here. You looked down and you made your choice. And that was it.

Nowadays, determining a person’s sex is so much more complicated that a judge’s ruling may be required.

Consider this multiple choices question:

Sex: choose one or more from the following:

。Male

。Female

。Non-binary (Oregan only)

。Somewhere in between (state your percentage of each. Must add to100 if you know how to add)

。Sometimes male inclined

。Sometimes female inclined

。It all depends on how I feel

。Transgender

。Don’t know

。Undetermined

。May change later in my life

。Whatever

Liberals have ways to make things more complicated than they have to.

When a society is taken over by the liberals,

The fight is on tax reform proposed by the Republicans and endorsed by Trump.

The new proposal calls for roughly doubling of the standard deduction which in essence eliminates many tax payers’ incentive to itemize (schedule A). Deductions on medical expenses including health insurance payment, lab, test and doctor fees, medicines and other costs, probably will be gone.

Mortgage interest deduction will be gone too for some tax payers because their itemized deductions will be lower than the standard deductions. As such, even the new plan calls for retention of mortgage interest deductions, this deduction is basically eliminated for most tax payers.

Well, none of this new rules on deductions will affect me but I’ll be happy to take the doubling of the standard exemption starting with the 2017 tax return.

However, I don’t think Republican’s tax reform proposal will be revenue neutral. Where will the new revenue come ftom to offset the tax cuts for higher income and the super-rich tax payers? Don’t forget the corporate income tax will be cut by roughly 42%, from ~35% to 20%? On top of that, the death tax will be eliminate too.

I know that Republican will rely on a bigger pie to collection more taxes because tax reform, Republican will argue, will grow the economy which will provide a bigger tax base to collect federal tax from.

My wife talked me into walking across the Brooklyn Bridge because she said that it was a very short and easy walk. She also said that walking was good for us. This was the first time I was on Brooklyn Bridge on foot. So, put it in the “been here, done this” category. In Chinese, we called this kind of outting “到此一遊”.

Well, Brooklyn bridge isn’t a very long bridge to walk across but I got pretty tired from one side to the other after walking 8,000 steps in lower Manhattan before reaching the entrance to the bridge.

The narrow beidge was crowded with souvenir merchants, tourists, joggers and bicycle riders. There was nothing exciting about the walk because I spent most of my time dodging bicycles, avoiding tourists who suddenly decided to turn around for whatever reason without any warning at all, stopping to wait for someone who decided to take half the bridge to take a picture of his/her travel companions and merchants who wanted to get me to buy a Statue of Liberty trincate or an Obama hat.

The senery was good but not breath taking. New York skyline was nice but I have seen it too many times. Weather was nice and the sunset was a gift.

Follow the bull makes more sense than standing in front of the bull. Toi many tourists anyway.

NYSE.

Last time I was here, 9-11 just happened a few months before.

The first thing I did in Brooklyn was looking for a place to eat because it started to get dark soon. We soon decided on a Japanese restaurant, Jun Shokudo, and have some sushi and sake for dinner.

Jun Shokudo was a cozy place in Brooklyn to have a quite dinner with your lover. Enjoy the food and the friedly service but you need to know what to order because we couldn’t get too much help with the menu from the waitress.

Subway station is only 5 minutes away.

Trump asked.

Is he from Texas?

No.

Is he from Wyoming?

No.

Is he a movie star from an old western movie?

No.

Is he…….

Stop guessing, please.

Okay.

Well, he’s Roy Moore from Alabama. And he could become a U.S. senator if you, Mr. Trump, decides to campaign for him in a special November election.

But, wait. Didn’t you, Trumpm support this guy’s opponent, Luther Strange, in a run off election with powerful tweets and personal appearance right before the vote?

Yes. We all know how powerful Trump’s tweets can be, don’t we? Personal apperance means 100% gauranteed.

Yeah, Luther will never let you down! Great line. Trump really has ways with powerful words.

Shooting up in polls. Of course. With my tweets, loser has no where to go but up.

So, what’d happened on the election day? Did Trump’s tweets put loser, sorry, Luther, over the top?

Let’s see what Trump had to say the day after the special election:

Did Trump actually back a loser? Yes, he sure did.

Unbelievable!

But, what kind of guy Roy is? Where does Roy stand on social issues? Here are just some of Roy’s convictionsare are:

Yeah! Hallelujah! Praise the lord!

Did science make a mistake? Obviously accirding to Roy of Alamaba.

I am sure he is 100% for the travel ban.

Whose god? Shall I ask?

Roy has to take off his shirt first. Whete is the horse? A AK-47 would help.

Trump said that too.

So, what now?

These ill-informed tweets (it wasn’t me, goddam it, blame McConnell for that) are misleading. They should be destroyed.

Now that Luther is packing, we’ll get Roy does his magic in November. We need all the votes in the Senate for that great tax bill ever later this yearbecause we can’t count on that pseudo hero from Arizona. Maine and Alaska aren’t safe either. There are a few tea party nuts which we have to deal with too.

I’ll get my tweet storm cooking.

White – D. Trump

Deep rooted racial discrimination problem in the U.S. is finally in full display for the entire world to see. This is the real America beneath the thin veneer of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Title VII of the CRA prohibits discrimination in employment on the basis of race, color, sex, or ethnic origin.

What happens on the football fields and at other venues in recent weeks is a reflection of what goes on everyday in America: white discriminates against black, white discriminates against Latino, white discriminates against muslim and white discriminates against Asian.

And it takes a rich, male, narcissistic, white-supremacy-inclined white American president to expose the true color of the United States.
