image

Outlet February 23, 2016

image

I learned something new everyday and the topic of today is Mathematics through a BBC Four documentary program called The Story of Maths hosted by Marcus du Sautoy.

The second film of this series is “The Genius of the East” where I learned 秦九韶 and 數書九章. Interesting!

http://www.netflix.com/watch/80093839?trackId=14272744

If you have time, you might want to spend four hours watching them:

  1.    The Language of the Universe;
  2.    The Genius of the East;
  3.    The Frontiers of Space;
  4.    To Infinite and Beyond.

 $512.02 to be exact.

That’s how much you are suppose to spend tomorrow, the Valentine’s day:

1.   A dozen red roses: $41.66
2.   Chocolates: $15.11
3.   A nice dinner for 2: $80.46
4.   Diamond ear rings: $323.26
5.   Champagne: $51.54

I will buy one stem of red rose for $3, no candy of any kind, $90 on dinner with wine, no ear rings because she already has a pair. Skip the Champagne because we had wine.

I may take her to a casual dining place and spend $25 or less and be done with it.

Love isn’t built on a pile of credit card bills. But forgetting it all together can be disastrous to your health.

Have you tried to avoid spending money by saying that you forgot about it?

跪算盤或洗衣板 isn’t funny at all. Not because I have.

The real fight between Conservative and Liberal February 13, 2016

Supreme Court Justice Scalia has died and the Supreme Court will unfortunately tilt towards liberalism for decades to come.

image

This is too bad.

Obama, the most liberal US president in recent history will change the legal landscape for the United States for decades to come. The U.S. has been steadily moving to the extreme left under Obama and the new Justice will be the last nail to the Conservative coffin.

This will complete the trasformation of America to a socialist and liberal country for as far as eyes can see.

Obama wanted ‘change’ for the U.S., he has done it since he grabbed power 7 years ago. With the new Justice to be named by Obama soon, Conservatives are done.

Too bad.

RIP. Conservatism in the United States.

One of the reasons I guessed Ka-shing Li 李嘉誠 moved some of his investments away from Hong Kong was probably because he saw a deterioration of business environment in Hong  Kong after the Occupy Central movement: [佔領中環.]

The riot [魚蛋暴動]happened in Kowloon’s Mong Kok District(旺角)will no doubt make doing business in Hong Kong more difficult.

Did Ka-shing Li 李嘉誠 saw something in the [佔領中環]Democratic movement which he believed was a threat to his empire?

Did it ring a bell in his ears as the Hong Kong government lost control in that situation?

Similar situation happened in Taiwan after students occupied the legislation department and later in a separate event the education department in Taipei.

Do foreign companies operating in Taiwan view these events as warning signs for their businesses?

Will foreign companies think twice before commit additional capitals for expansions in Taiwan because of these riots?

Will foreign companies withdraw pending projects from Taiwan because these events are threats to their investments?

Is free market still free?
