Revel is the newest casino here in AC. The construction of the casino was put on hold for a long time while the creditors fought over in the bankruptcy court. After it finally opened a couple of years ago at a cost of around $1 billion, we couldn’t wait to take a peek inside.
The casino was beautiful inside with modern design and the restaurants were great! We might try to get a free room here sometime during the winter. It’s very slow here in AC after Labor day. Almost all casinos here are under bankruptcy because the golden days of AC were ling gone. Many surriunding states have casinos with thousands of slots. A few have table games. Hilton here just closed its casino and sold its rooms to Bally, I think.
We had steak and fish at Revel’s Steakhouse called ‘American Cut.’ The restaurant was very busy and the dining room was full when we got there around 8 pm; about 1/2 hour before our reservation time. The young and beautiful hostesses took us to our table anyway because it was set aside for us anyway.
I got a bottle of 2009 Chateau Haut Bergey from Bordeaux ($124) and ordered a chilli lobster for appetizer ($27.) We also ordered a Ribeye ($51) and Halibut ($36) for main courses. The wine was good but not great. I saw many wines selling at $400 and higher. One bottle from Bordeaux cost abiyt $5000. Steak was super; thick, juicy, pink in the center and slightly charred and crusted on the outside. Great seasoning too. No wonder the casino floor was almost empty but the steakhouse was full.
Well, 美中不足, the Halibut filet was fresh but just okay because the seasoning was a bit on the light side. It’s small for the price too.
The best dish belonged to the appetizer: tender lobster meat, rich, spicy and savoy sauce. And the garlic bread let us soak up all the sauces too. Could use a few more pieces though. Sauted wild mushroom was $14 and the layered cake was $10.
Give it a try next time when you are in AC. Play slots, play your favorite table games but keep your gambling loss to what you can afford.
One more fancy restaurant at Revel to try: Azure.
